Overview

Tanya Collins, PhD, is a Senior Research Associatefor Education Studies with more than 20 of experience in education as both an instructional systems designer and educator. She works on large education research projects, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Data Center (IDC), providing technical assistance and overseeing the peer review processes. Her instructional systems design work includes leading teams to produce high-quality training resources and materials to accelerate educator effectiveness. Collins offers extensive experience designing and managing state and national technical assistance projects focused on equity.

Through her technical assistance and training roles, Collins led the design of statewide professional development infrastructure and oversaw data collection to monitor the fidelity of implementation and examine initiative outcomes. In addition, she collaborated with educational leaders across the country to design culturally responsive instruction aligned with core learning objectives that created student-centered, sustainable learning environments focused on academic success. Collins has led project teams focused on systems development for school improvement, implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), educator effectiveness, change theory, and evidence-based practices related to culturally responsive teaching, data culture, literacy, and social and emotional learning.
