Nanmathi Manian, PhD, is a Principal Research Associate for Social Policy and Economics Research with over 20 years of experience in program implementation and evaluation, specializing in children, youth, and families. She has led numerous national and international evaluations for federal agencies, foundations, and nonprofits. For the ED’s National Comprehensive Center, Manian supports states and districts in implementing trauma-informed and systemic approaches to address student and staff mental health and well-being. She has developed resources and led national discussions on school-community partnerships and multitiered supports, particularly for specific populations, such as foster care students and those in low-income communities.
She also co-leads the evaluation of a SAMHSA-funded project on using evidence-based practices to prevent substance misuse across communities, tribal nations, and states.
Manian has authored more than 40 publications that include articles, briefs, and blogs, and has presented at national and international conferences and webinars. She teaches program evaluation and research methods as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and is a guest editor for a special section of the journal Children.
