Catherine Benvie is a Senior Associate for Social Policy and Economics Research. She brings more than a decade of experience in policy development and program design for nutrition assistance, poverty alleviation, and public health programs. She has developed regulations and policy guidance for federal agencies and worked with local and state agencies to improve program implementation. Benvie serves as Project Manager and subject matter expert for numerous policy support projects with USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service and state agencies.
Earlier, Benvie was a supervisor at the U.S. Consulate in Johannesburg, South Africa, and served for 5 years at USDA working on policy for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and various child nutrition programs. She has additional experience working for the District of Columbia government in child welfare and for several NGOs.
