Brandon Hesgrove, PhD, is a health economist and Principal Research Associate for Behavioral Health and Health Policy. He has extensive training in advanced econometric methods for program evaluation and causal inference in both experimental and non-experimental settings and has used this expertise to implement innovative methodologies for evaluations for multiple federal agencies. He has also played key roles in the creation of multiple innovative databases for AHRQ by collecting and processing a vast array of data sources and harmonizing, linking, weighting, and de-identifying them to create novel and useful databases for researchers. He is an experienced survey analyst, having overseen and performed extensive survey analysis for CMS, HRSA, AHRQ, and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
Hesgrove has made substantial contributions to the research and writing behind highly visible and high-impact reports to OMB and Congress as well as peer-reviewed journal articles with CMS and HRSA project staff, which transformed complex data analysis and statistical methodologies to results that are clear and easily interpretable by non-technical government officials and the public.
