Westat Secures AHRQ Awards for Behavioral Health Advancement

October 14, 2024

Westat was recently awarded two behavioral health projects by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). The first project updates a playbook of resources for medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD). The MOUD Playbook supports primary care practices in implementing MOUD, which has been shown to reduce mortality from overdose by up to 50%.

The second project continues Westat’s support of the AHRQ Academy for Integrating Behavioral Health and Primary Care, a national coordinating center for those interested in behavioral health and primary care integration. Objectives include establishing partnerships with diverse stakeholders, enhancing the Academy website, developing new resources, and increasing the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based integration practices.

“We are excited to be working with AHRQ on these important projects that reflect Westat’s ongoing commitment to research that makes a meaningful impact on opioid use disorder treatment and behavioral health integration,” notes Danielle Durant, PhD, a Westat Principal Research Associate and Project Director for AHRQ’s Playbook for MOUD.
